Career Resources for Flagler County
Whether you're polishing your resume, prepping for an interview, or looking for training programs, we've gathered the resources that Flagler County job seekers need most.
Resume Tips
5 quick ways to make your resume stand out
Tailor Every Resume to the Job
Read the job description carefully and mirror the language they use. If they say "customer service," use that exact phrase instead of "client relations." Applicant tracking systems and hiring managers both look for keyword matches.
Lead with Results, Not Duties
Instead of "Responsible for inventory management," write "Reduced inventory losses by 15% through a new tracking system." Numbers and outcomes make your experience concrete and memorable.
Keep It to One Page (Usually)
For most roles in Flagler County — from restaurant jobs to office admin — a one-page resume is ideal. Only go to two pages if you have 10+ years of directly relevant experience.
Include a Local Address or Note
Employers hiring for Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, or Bunnell want to know you can show up reliably. Include your city or mention "relocating to Flagler County" if applicable.
Proofread Out Loud
Read your resume out loud before submitting. You'll catch awkward phrasing, missing words, and typos that your eyes skip over when reading silently. Better yet, have a friend read it too.
Interview Prep
5 tips to help you nail the interview
Research the Business First
Look up the business on FlaglerBusinesses.com, Google, and social media before your interview. Knowing their services, recent news, or community involvement shows genuine interest and gives you talking points.
Prepare Specific Examples
For every skill on your resume, prepare a short story: the situation, what you did, and the result. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to keep your answers focused and impressive.
Dress One Level Up
If the workplace is casual, wear business casual. If it's business casual, wear business professional. When in doubt, it's always better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed for a Flagler County interview.
Ask Thoughtful Questions
Prepare 2-3 questions that show you're thinking about contributing, not just getting hired. "What does success look like in the first 90 days?" is always a strong choice.
Follow Up Within 24 Hours
Send a brief thank-you email the same day or the next morning. Reference something specific from your conversation. In a smaller community like Flagler County, this personal touch goes a long way.
